Project Overview

A heritage industrial shell, reused for STEM education.

Penang Science Cluster (PSC) is a collaborative innovation space located in George Town, Penang, dedicated to advancing STEM education and tech innovation. Housed within a repurposed heritage-era industrial building, the PSC blends old and new through adaptive reuse architecture, focusing on natural ventilation, sustainability, and creative spatial design.
Use of PBM Ventilation Blocks
PBM’s VB 191.100 ventilation blocks were selected to complement the industrial character of the building while supporting passive design strategies. Installed along exterior and semi-enclosed service zones, these blocks offer:
Filtered daylight and visual texture
Natural airflow in non-air-conditioned spaces
A minimalist modular pattern that reinforces the tech-forward identity of PSC
The VB 191.100 block, with its square layout and clean geometry, provides an efficient and visually appealing solution suited to educational and adaptive reuse environments.
