Installation Notes
- Excavate to design depth and compact the sub-base with crushed aggregate
- Lay a 30–50 mm bedding layer of coarse sand, screeded level
- Set units flush with adjacent pieces, aligning the profile pattern
- Maintain 2–3 mm joints between units
- Compact lightly using a plate compactor fitted with a rubber mat
- Fill openings or recessed areas with topsoil mixed with grass seed, or insert pre-grown turf plugs
- Water thoroughly during the establishment period (typically 4–6 weeks)
- Install edge restraints at the perimeter to prevent lateral movement under load
FAQ —
What is a grass paver?
A grass paver is a concrete paving unit with open cells or recessed sections that allow grass and water to pass through the paved surface. It supports vehicular or pedestrian loads while maintaining vegetation cover and surface drainage.
Where can grass pavers be used?
Common applications include fire access lanes, overflow and visitor parking, residential and commercial driveways, lawn-reinforced areas around amenities, garden paths, and slope stabilisation under turf.
Can vehicles drive over grass pavers?
Yes, when laid on a properly compacted sub-base with edge restraints. PBM grass pavers are sized for passenger and light commercial vehicle traffic. They are not intended for sustained heavy-vehicle loading.
How do grass pavers manage stormwater?
Mow at the same height as the surrounding turf. Aerate openings annually if compaction is observed. Top up topsoil and reseed bare patches as required. Sweep paved sections to clear debris.
Note: All concrete pavers require an adequate thickness of well-compacted basecourse to ensure optimal pavement performance and longevity. Tolerance of ± 3mm in product dimension is to be expected. Efflorescence may happen on any cementitious product. Website images for illustration purpose, final selection should be made from actual product samples.
