ICC PUDU

Location: Kuala Lumpur
Year: 2016
Project Type: Urban Market & Commercial Centre
Project Overview
ICC Pudu is a central commercial hub and urban market developed to rejuvenate Kuala Lumpur’s Pudu district. Replacing the historic Imbi Market, this large-scale facility serves as a food court, marketplace, and retail space for local vendors. Designed for high-traffic functionality, the building also incorporates expressive façade treatments to elevate its urban presence.
Use of PBM Ventilation Blocks
PBM supplied VB 190.45 and VB 222.150 VentBlocks for ICC Pudu’s main building façade. These blocks were selected not only for durability and modularity but also for their complementary proportions, which allowed for a distinctive wave-like pattern across the elevation.

By alternating the two models in sequence:
•The façade gains a layered, kinetic effect
•Depth is introduced through repetitive light-and-shadow interplay
•The design reads as an abstract interpretation of motion and flow — fitting for a vibrant urban marketplace

Though traditionally used for ventilation, in this case, the blocks were primarily applied for visual expression and screening in a high-density urban setting.
